On December 5, 1995, His Majesty the King launched the Distance Learning Foundation Project from Wang Klaikangwan School at the Royal Palace in Hua Hin. The school broadcasts through 13 channels to more than 7,000 schools in remote provinces. It covers all school levels as well as post-school technical subjects. It transmits in various languages to most neighbouring countries, including China. It has link-ups to Europe and the USA. The project is famous throughout the western world. As a Royal Project it is mainly funded by private donations.
