On Friday 17 October 2008 at 09.00 am at Poompandin Hall of Ratchapat Petchaburi University there was a seminar on long term tourism strategy. The speakers at the seminar were Rector Dr. Eksak Bootlab and Vice Rector Rawiwong Srithongroong of Ratchapat University. There were two guest speakers; Dr. Supanni Chayaboot and Dr. Chomyong Tohthong.
The seminar attended representatives from 8 provinces; Supanburi, Kanchanaburi, Samuth Sakorn, Samuth Songkram, Nakorn Pathom, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi and Prachupkirikan.
The first a Rector Dr. Eksak Bootlab has welcomed all participants. He spoke about great tourism potential of all eight provinces. He has thanked Dr. Supanni Chayaboot and Dr. Chomyong Tohthong for sharing their experience and knowledge about tourism.
Dr. Supanni Chayaboot said that the long term tourism strategy must be developed in an intelligent way. There is no place for inferior complex as the local knowledge is the best.
Dr. Chomyong Tohthong said that she is from Petchaburi Province. Phetchaburi has a very rich history. There are countless of temples in and around Phetchaburi. Both Phetchaburi and Prachupkirikan have many caves, the most famous is Praya Nakorn cave known since King Rama IV area. In 1767 there was war between Siam and Burma in the Petchaburi Province.
After the guests speaker's speeches all 80 representatives taking past in the seminar were divided into eight working groups, one for from each province. The groups had to workout a long terms tourism strategy for their province and compare it with other groups.
At the end of presentations Vice Rector Khun Rawiwong Srithongroong has thanked everyone for taking part in the seminar and wished all provinces successes with tourism management.
