Plans to upgrade the railway crossing in Hua Hin

On Wednesday 29 January 2008 near railway crossing, Hua Hin Mayor Khun Sirapan Kamolpramoth has held a press conference regarding Hua Hin Municipality plans to upgrade the main railway crossing on Chomsin Road. Chomsin Road turns in the area of the railway crossing and traffic jams at the railway crossing are a common place.

Khun Sirapan said that the previous Hua Hin Mayor Khun Jira Pongpaibul has agreed with the Governor of the Railway Department to upgrade the railway crossing at Chomsin Road three years ago. Unfortunately Hua Hin Municipality didn't have the budget of 1 mln Baht to carry out the railway crossing upgrade work. The current estimate of the upgrade work is 7 mln Baht. The railway crossing at Chomsin Road will be moved about 15 - 20 meters from the current location. Lord Mayor said that there is a need to knock down two booths and to move a Joss House belonging to the Hua Hin Pathana Company in order to clear the area for the future crossing.

The Railway Department will move the entire railway crossing equipment to the new location and will ensure safe passage of trains while the upgrade work will take place.

Hua Hin Municipality will construct the new road. The road construction will cost 300,000Baht. The railway crossing upgrade work will be finished in the middle of 2008.

Khun Sirapan will ask the Hua Hin Municipality lawyer to send a legal notice to the affected parties.
