On Tuesday 09 December 2008 in the morning at Hua Hin Municipality Lord Mayor Khun Jira Pongpaibul, three Vice Mayors Khun Artikhun Bootying, Khun Suwit Liennloongrueng and Dr. Roongroch Srilueng-Swasdi, President of Hua Hin Assembly Khun Pathom Pudam and Vice President of Hua Hin Assembly Khun Prapa Nortes have announced that on 27-28 December 2008 will take place Long Boat Race competition on Kao Tao Reservoir. This will be one of many events taking place in Prachuapkhirikhan which will be part of 81st birthday celebration of HM the King. This event is also intended to preserve Thai culture and customs and boost tourism in the Province.
Lord Mayor said that the Long Boat Race will be fantastic event which will attract many tourists. HM the King has founded King’s Cup for the winner of the boat racing competition. It will be great honor and privilege for the winner to receive King’s Cup. The Long Boat Race is sponsored by Boonrod Trading. This company supports many festivals, fairs and ceremonies taking place in Hua Hin. This time Boonrod Trading has donated 1,100,000 baht towards organization of the Long Boat Race event. Hua Hin Municipality will give 120,000 baht towards the prize for the winning team.
Representative of Boonrod Trading Khun Parinya Sooktit said that the company is very happy to sponsor such a worthy event. This will be very special event as the winner will receive King’s Cup.
Lord Mayor said that many teams have already entered the Long Boat Race competition. More will enter in the coming days. This even will become a major tourist attraction in Hua Hin and Prachuapkhirikhan.
