On Sunday 15 June 2008 at Phokingphat Public Park, Prachuap Khirikhan Provincial Governor Mr. Panchai Bawonratapran has presided over the opening ceremony of Jazz in Town. This event was an extention of the Hua Hin Jazz Festival on the Beach which took place during 13 - 14 June 2008.
Ph.D. Rungrote Siluaengsawat, the Deputy Mayor has said that Hua Hin is a resort town for many years now. This is the place where a lot of royal family and nobility paid their visit to relax themselves during summertime. The Deputy Mayor added that Prachuap Khirikhan Province has high potential to attract many tourists as the province has many tourist attractions; beaches, caves, waterfalls, historical and cultural sites. The Province has just proclaimed Amazing Prachuap Khirikhan 2008 in the hope of using this campaign as a tool to promote local tourism. Hua Hin Jazz Festival 2008 and Jazz in Town are part of the tourism promotion.
The Governor has thanked staff of Hua Hin Municipality for hosting the festival. He added that Hua Hin has been regarded as the resort town for a long time, with Klaikangwon Palace where their Majesties King and Queen are staying at this moment. It is regarded as special town of the province. He was happy provide his support for the Jazz events.
The Jazz in Town event took place during June 15-17, 2008. There were many jazz bands playing on Sasong Road. Stalls of local products and food were available close by.
