Foreign resident shot recently in Hua Hin

Mr Donald Whiting who has lived in Hua Hin for 5 years has been shot recently. He bought property from foreign developer for 9 million baht, but the construction of the house has not been finished. The developer has abandoned the project for 3 years and did not construct the tennis court as per contract. Donald Whiting has given up his hope of having the property project finished and then buyer was needed for the property to get his 9 million baht back.

As the developer was not forthcoming with the money, Donald Whiting came to my office to discuss his case and ask for help. I have called Public Prosecutor at Provincial office Khun Som Jate to advice him of Donald's case and find out what can be done to resolve the problem with the developer. Donald Whiting went to see Khun Som Jate and presented his case to him. Public Prosecutor has called the developer to investigate and finally agreement with was reached. Developer has agreed to give back 6 million Baht to Donald Whiting but the payment has not been made yet. .

In the meantime Donald Whiting he has bought land and house in other place but he had again some problems with developer, as he was selling water very expensive. Donald has shown me the water bills. I have arranged suitable time and have invited Donald Whiting and developer to my office. Compromise has not been reached.

Shortly afterwards Donald’s car has been burned at night. Donald Whiting could smell fire and immediately came out from his house and has tried to put the fire out. In the morning Donald went to Police Station and has asked police to investigate. Police has not found the perpetrators yet.

In October Mr. Donald Whiting has been shot at his back and now he is in a critical state in Bangkok hospital. Police is investigating this case. Recently I was visited by Mr. Andrew Drummond (British journalist based in Bangkok) and his friend. They have asked me about shooting of Donald Whiting. During our meeting I have called Chief Police Commander of Hua Hin Kasanah Jaeng Sawang. Chief Police Commander has told me that police carry out investigation. They need more time but he was confident that police will find out who the gunman was.
