Recently there has been a conciliatory seminar for village headmen held at the Hardthong Hotel. When the seminar has finished Loong Tuck have had a chance to interview Chief Judge of Provincial Court Khun Supkit Boonpontuk and Chief Judge of Youth & Family Court Khun Somprasong Petchasuwean.
The Provincial Chief Judge said that the Provincial Court is always ready to welcome any person, Thai or foreigner, who wants find out more information about Thai law. All judges based at the Provincial Court are always ready to explain how the Thai legal system works. He said that most people think that most cases fall into criminal or civil case category. This is not necessarily true.
The Chief Judge of Youth & Family Court Khun Somprasong Petsuwan has explained about the Youth & Family Court. There are many situations when youngsters make some kind criminal offence against other person. When this case comes to the Youth & Family Court, usually the judge will have to conciliate by calling both parents for compromise hearing. In case they do not agree, the case then send to the court. Khun Somprasong said that it is very important that there is a proper relation between parents and children. The parents should have time for their children and closely monitor what their children do when they are not at home. They need to take special care of the children which are most likely to have problems. They need to speak with their children and find out what the problems is. Parents need also check what kind of friends their children have and what they do in a spare time with their friends.
Khun Somprasong said that parents should have a better understanding how the Youth & Family Court works before they submit any case to the court.
