Mr. Panchai Bawonrattana, the Prachuap Khirikhan Provincial Governor, has announced that their Majesties the King & Queen will come to Hua Hin on June 11, 2008. The Provincial Office has requested that Mr. Prasit Boonlikit, the Hua Hin District Chief Officer, and Mr. Jira Phongphaiboon, the Hua Hin Mayor, should go ahead and organize the welcoming ceremony for Their Majesties. Hua Hin residents have waited to welcome Their Majesties for 2 years and 4 days.
The Public Relation Section of Hua Hin Municipal Office had to go around the area to publicize this news in 35 communities, while the District Chief Officer was to spreading the news to people in 5 sub districts.
The plan was that residents and organizers welcoming Their Majesties the King and Queen should gather at 17:00. When residents arrived, they didn’t know where to stand as organizing officials arrived at 20:00, so they had to choose their own places. Moreover, people standing on the east side of the Phetchkasem Road had to later go across to the west side as ordered by officials who arrived late. Some people, who had presents for Their Majesties didn’t know whom to contact in order to pass the present to Their Majesties.
From the Bofai Tunnel (Hua Hin Airport) along Phetchkasem Road to Wangklaikangwon Palace, there were a lot of people and university students standing in the rows to welcome Their Majesties. The problem occurred only in front of the palace, because Metropolitan Police officers have tried to block people and ordered them to sit down, switch off mobile phones and not to take photographs. Member of local press were not able to take even a photo of their majesties’ cars. Some people have waited for arrival of Their Majesties from 18:00 until 23:00. They saw only Their Majesties’ cars. Problems pointed out should not happen the next time.
