Lesson to be learned from a marriage story


Mr. Jack came to see  one month  ago. He has 32 years old Thai wife which he met in Bangkok. Mr. Jack is 65 years old English national. He has lived  with his wife for about 5 years. Mr. Jack  has bought property in his wife's name for more than 26 million baht. He bought land & house. Not so long time ago his wife has chased him out his house. Mr Jack now stays in a hotel, he cannot sleep, he cries everyday.

This case is currently heard by the Prachuab Khiri Khan Provincial Court. One of the hearings took place in December 2007, next is due in January 2008. The court has ordered that until this case is completed all the disputed property cannot be sold or transfered to another owner.

This case should serve as a warning to other foreigners intending get married with Thai girls. Foreigners should not look for their future wifes among girls working in pubs, bars, snack bars, working as singers or massagists. They should not fall in love with a first available girl. They should find as much information about their girlfriend, meet her family and friends. There are many cases in Thailand when Thai wife or girlfriend ask for as much money as possible and then damps her husband or boyfriend. Foreigners should be aware that they can buy cars or apartments in their names.
