Portrait of HM the King


HM the King PortraitOn Monday 11 December 2007 Managing Director of Market Village Khun Yanyong Kanhawathana has announced that 80 leading artists from Hua Hin and Prachuab Khiri Khan province have jointly finished painting portrait of His Majesty the King in order to celebrate HM 80th Birthday Anniversary. The portrait is 8m wide, 10m high and it took 80 hours to paint it.

At the announcement was present a chief Hua Hin artist Khun Thawee Kesangarm. Khun Thawee was leading the group of eighty artists. In order to paint portrait of this size, artists had to use scaffolding. The painting will be on displayed during Vintage Car and Art Festival, at the end of which it will be presented to HM the King.

Governor of Prachuab Khiri Khan Khun Prasong Pitulkisja has explained that that all 80 artists, male and female, could only nap during short breaks. They had to eat, rest and take shower at Hua Hin Market Village. They had to paint almost round the clock in order to complete the portrait on time. Many Hua Hin residents came to Market Village to watch the portrait being painted. The painting is a biggest King's portrait in the world.
