On Monday 24th September 2007 Chief Commander of Infantry and Army General Major Niwat Meenayotin has attended a Memorial Day ceremony at the Infantry Division Pranburi District. On the same day Chief Commander of Thai Army General four star Sonthi Boonyaratklin and Vice Chief Commander General Phaisarn Katunyu and another fifty four generals have had their retiring ceremony.
The Memorial Day ceremony at the Infantry Division Pranburi District took place at the conference hall. At the ceremony were present many military officers, commissioned officers, non-commissioned officers and guests with Vice Governor of Prachuab Khiri Khan, Chief District Officers and Hua Hin Mayor.
At about 08.45 am ten monks have said prayers after which General Winai Pattiyah an Under-Secretary of Minister of Defence has offered dry food and utensils for the monks. After receiving a blessing from the monks General Sonthi Boonyaratklin and all generals went to the airport located at Thanarat Camp for the retiring ceremony.
Here the Honor Company followed by ten battalions took part in a parade in front of the retiring generals standing on the podium. General Sonthi Boonyaratklin has inspected battalions by a jeep and has returned to the podium.
Afterwards General Major Niwat Meenayoti spoke about infantry history and has praised also to praise General Sonthi Boonyaratklin for his is courage.
General Sonthi said that the Infantry Division is in his heart because he was born in an Infantry Division and will remain in his heart forever.
