The traffic jam problem in Hua Hin center is great inconvenience Hua Hin residents and visitors and Hua Hin Municipality is taking steps to improve the situation. Municipality has decided to widen the Chomsin crossroad where the traffic jam usually starts. Chomsin crossroad is now in use, however the proper traffic system and automatic rail fence will be provided in the near future. To facilitate the city’s traffic from the west to the east, there will be a plan to improve East Liab Tangrdfai Road starting from Chomsin crossroad until Bo Fai Intersection totaling 6 kilometers. At this moment, the Municipality has submitted a letter of land lease to The State Railway of Thailand for car parking area along the railroad and improving landscape. With regards to private shops located along the railroad, the Municipality has cooperated with Ministry of social Development and Human Security to provide replacement houses.
Another important issue in Hua Hin is water supply. The city has been growing rapidly and it seems that the use of water is increasing continuously; therefore the Mayor has decided take to steps in order to improve water supply situation.
- He has passed a budget to improve the quality of water used in Hua Hin by building a water filtering station at Hua Na Reservoir. Fresh filtered water will be transported by pipes to Khao Tao and its vicinity. There is also plan to improve Khoa Hua Rang and Irrigation Reservoirs. At the end of this year, it is expected that use of water in Hua Hin District will increase by 20%.
- He has decided to provide an area at Huai Sai Tai (Cha-Am) for building another reservoir, for storing 40000 cubic meters of water. This area is ideal for this purpose because it is located on the way of irrigation canal from Phetchaburi Dam. It is expected that another water filtering station will be build there, which will produce fresh water for Hua Hin.
Hua Hin Mayor wants also introduce Khao Tao as a new tourist attraction. The Khao Tao Reservoir which has a long and important history. This reservoir is the first royal project under His Majesty the King’s patronage. His Majesty the King had this reservoir located on pan-shaped area near Khoa Tao village without digging it up. Water stored in the reservoir was quite salty at first, but after that it became consumable. Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit established Khoa Tao Weaving Group in the hope of creating jobs for local villagers, which it is regarded to be the first model of Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Centers as seen today. Recently Hua Hin Mayor has organized long-tailed boat races at the Khao Tao Reservoir. Their Majesties the King and the Queen have paid visit to the Khao Tao area to watch long boats races and award prizes to the winners. Now Khao Tao area is regarded as tourist attractions you cannot miss to visit.
