East Timor’s President visits HM the King at Klai Kangwon Palace


On Tuesday 13 January 2009 at 4 p.m. at Hua Hin Airport, the Provincial Governor Khun Parnchai Borwornratanapran, Vice Governor Bongkarn Limpapan, Hua Hin Mayor Jira Pongpaibul and government officials have gathered to welcome the East Timor President Jose Ramos-Horta and Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. They have arrived on the Royal Thai Army aircraft and after the welcome ceremony at Hua Hin Airport they drove immediately to Klai Kangwon Palace to visit HM the King.

Their visit at Klai Kangwon Palace has lasted about one hour and they have returned back to Hua Hin Airport for their return flight to Bangkok. All the government officials said their farewells to the East Timor President Mr. Ramos Horta-Horta and Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.

East Timor’s President Jose Ramos-Horta has been in critical condition after he was wounded by rebels during failed coup attempt in February 2008. Mr Ramos-Horta was taken to a hospital run by the Australian military in Dili. He was later evacuated to Australia for further treatment. He received three gunshot wounds - one in the stomach and two in the chest. After recovery he has returned to capital Dili where has been greeted by thousands of his supporters.
